Come one, come all! To that same old street corner on the last Monday in July, for the 55th Annual World Championship Dainty Contest!
This is the weekend that Schnitzelburgers look forward to all year long, and this year we’ve got more to celebrate than ever before!

Take a swing at the Dainty in our Dainty batting cage

Sunday, July 27: 11:00am – 4:00pm @ George Hauck Way

Sunday is the Opening Ceremonies for Dainty 2025, and a celebration of the best community in the world!
The day begins at The MerryWeather for some recovery brunch (11:00am – noon) — and also serves as the starting point for the Dainty Parade! (Presented by BCCN Law)
From there, the procession — led by a live performance from the Hot Sauce Brass Band — winds through Schnitzelburg to the home of the Dainty: the corner of George Hauck Way.
Once there, enjoy and take part in:
Hanging of the plaque to recognize last year’s world champion, Col. JM Lippa
The Bologna Sandwich Eating Contest (Presented by Emerald Title Group)
The Pickle Juice Chugging Contest
The Dainty Magic Show & Petting Zoo (Presented by Hauck’s Corner)
Plus booths from neighborhood associations, local businesses, and your friendly Dainty Fest organizers!

Now for the main event!
Since 1971, folks from all across Louisville have gathered at the corner of George Hauck Way to compete in the slowest five hours in sports and be part of the quirky tradition started by George 55 years ago: The Dainty!
The Rules:
45 years or older to play
One hand only on the Dainty bat
Three strikes – a strike is whenever wood touches wood
Farthest Dainty distance is the champion
Shortest Dainty distance gets a basket of lemons
Bologna sandwich with mustard on white bread, a bag of plain chips, and a whole pickle is the official meal
Play begins just after 5:00
Game runs till we run out of bologna or players
